FAQS
Frequently Asked Questions
Navigating the process of purchasing a heavy timber structure involves many questions regarding logistics, engineering, and assembly. We have compiled this list of common inquiries to help our distributors and customers understand exactly what makes Central Timber Frame Supply the preferred choice for authentic timber kits across the United States.
Where are your timber kits manufactured?
All of our kits are handcrafted at our facility in Pennsylvania by skilled craftsmen using traditional Amish techniques.
What kind of wood do you use for the pavilions?
Our standard kits are built with number one grade rough sawn hemlock. We also offer Western Red Cedar as a premium upgrade.
Do you ship to my state?
Yes, we provide national shipping across the entire United States, delivering directly to distributor lots or job sites.
How long does it take to get a kit?
Our standard lead time for manufacturing is approximately six weeks from the date the order is finalized.
Are these kits actually Amish-made?
Yes, we utilize authentic Pennsylvania Amish craftsmanship and traditional mortise and tenon joinery in every kit we produce.
Do I need a permit for a timber frame pavilion?
Most municipalities require a permit for permanent structures. We provide permit-ready engineering drawings to simplify this process.
What is included in a pavilion kit?
Every kit includes pre-cut timbers, authentic joinery, all necessary fasteners, drill bits, and a comprehensive assembly manual.
Can I customize the size of my pavilion?
Yes, while we have standard sizes, we offer full design and engineering services for custom kit dimensions.
How is the joinery different from big-box store kits?
We use authentic mortise and tenon joinery. This means the wood interlocks, rather than relying on cheap metal brackets and screws.
Do the pavilions come stained?
We offer professional staining services in various colors, or you can choose to receive your kit as natural wood and stain it on-site.
How do you calculate shipping costs?
Shipping is calculated at 200 dollars for handling plus 3 dollars per mile, measured one-way from our hubs in Howard, PA or Warrenton, MO.
What are the standard post sizes?
Depending on the pavilion series, we use heavy-duty 6x6 or 8x8 timbers to ensure structural mass and longevity.
Do you sell wholesale lumber?
Yes, we provide truckload quantities of hemlock and tongue and groove decking for lumber yards and large-scale builders.
What is the 100-mile radius protection?
We protect our authorized distributors by ensuring no other retail partner is established within a 100-mile radius of their location.
Are the kits engineered for snow and wind?
Yes, our structures are designed and rated for national snow load and wind speed requirements.
How do I become a dealer?
Complete our "Become a Distributor" application form, and our success manager, Gideon Esh, will reach out to discuss the partnership.
What is the minimum buy-in for a distributor?
Our standard buy-in is the purchase of an 18x22 display pavilion for your lot, which includes delivery and installation by our team.
Can you ship directly to my customer?
Yes, we can coordinate shipping directly to your customer's job site on your behalf.
Who do I contact for technical assembly questions?
